the food was good but there were no standouts. they were out of the beef rice but the Dan Dan noodles and lu rou fan were both pretty good. beef short rib bao reminded me of a Big Mac in a good way. Cucumber salad could have been fresher. Packed restaurant with a great atmosphere on Thursday evening.

I have visited other branches of Bao before, but this was my first time at this particular restaurant. I am pleased to say that I had a really good experience. I must say first of all that the customer service was excellent. I explained before my visit that I had a disability and the staff made sure that I was sat at a suitable table and was comfortable. Despite being extremely busy, the staff were friendly and responsive. I also did not have to wait very long after placing my order. I ended up having three different bao: the Christmas Duck Bao from their Festive Menu followed by the Prawn Shia Song Bao from the regular menu. Both were delicious. The Christmas Duck was soft and juicy and the Prawn Bao had a nice crunch and lots of flavour. However, the real surprise was the Mince Pie Ice Cream Bao. It sounded like a strange combination but it was honestly one of the best sweets I had over the Christmas period. Although the restaurant was very busy, I still felt relaxed and could enjoy my meal without feeling rushed. I can definitely recommend this branch of Bao thanks to the great food and equally great staff. I look forward to my next visit.

I’ve been keen to try this place for a while after the hype for their 40-day aged steak rice, and being Michelin recommended. Ranking the dishes I tried from best to worst: Classic Braised Pork Bao: best-in-class bao. Juicy and flavorful meat, soft bun - everything you want in a good bao. Could eat 5x of these. Soy glazed aubergine: 4/5. Interesting and unique flavors, but not jumping at you too much. 40-day aged steak rice: 3/5. Satisfying bites, loved the idea behind it. For 15 pounds, very little food though, and the beef was on the chewier side rather than super tender. Taiwanese beef noodle soup: I was surprisingly quite underwhelmed by this soup. Extremely mild, borderline lacking taste, for my taste. The service was good and quick, while confused with the meal deal, which took a few iterations to get it right when paying. Would come back and try more dishes, especially the bao selection, which was by far the best choice.
